A layout with Julie's Kit

"Tati"

Journaling reads:
"His name was Eduardo but for me he will always be “Tati”. He was the only grand uncle I met from the 11 siblings my dear grandfather had. Tati was one of the older brothers and my grandfather was the youngest.
We used to go to Tati’s place in Tafi del Valle in Summer. Tati and my grandpa were close friends and they even worked together (they were lawyers and worked in the buffet located in Tati’s house).
My grandfather and Tati made a great team together. Grandpa was funny and witty, he was always making jokes and dancing and teasing everyone. Tati was a great story teller. he loved Genealogy, he had several family trees created by himself and a huge collction of History magazines and books. (all of them had his handwritten notes and corrections, some of them priceless).
My grandpa died at the age of 72, leaving his family completely broken hearted. I can’t imagine how lonely my grand uncle must have felt ever since that day. He had never married and his family was my grandfather’s family.
I remember our first summer vacation after my grandpa died. We were in Tafi del Valle and I was 10 years old. Tati was playing cards with some friends as he had always done with my grandfather. But now he was alone. He walked through the door and he tried to do the same dance and funny faces my grandpa used to make to my brothers and me when he came back for diner from their card game...and of course it wasn’t the same...and he knew it, because I remember his face...(as with a sudden sharp pain in his heart)...I remember feeling the same pain...I just wanted to go and hug him and cry...but I laughed because I wanted him to know that I appreciated what he was doing...he was trying to make us feel better...to fill the void my grandfather had left.
This is dedicated to you, Tati. I never told you how much I loved you and how thankful I was for nviting us to your vacation house every summer until you joined your family in Heaven. With love, Mariquita".

The History of Dulce de Leche

Journalings read:
"The History of Dulce de Leche:It is said that Dulce de Leche originated in Argentina in 1829 in the providence of Cañuelas in Buenos Aires. Two opposing forces were on the brink of ending a war. The General Lavalle and the General Manuel de Rosas came together in order to make a treaty.. The General Lavalle arrived very tired at the campo of General Manuel de Rosas. Manuel de Rosas wasn’t in the camp at the moment so General Lavalle entered into his tent and took a nap.

While the General Lavalle was napping a serving woman was preparing “la lechada” for the camp.“La lechada” is prepared by heating sugar and milk. The woman went to speak with the General Manuel de Rosas in his tent, but when she entered she discovered the enemy. She didn’t know about the treaty the two generals were about to make, so she ran to find soldiers.

The General Manuel de Rosas arrived moments before the soldiers, and stopped them from waking the sleeping General Lavalle. In the chaos, the woman forgot about “la lechada.” When she remembered and checked on “la lechada,” she noticed that it had become a dark brown jelly substance. It is said that a very brave and hungry soldier tried the jelly and then dulce de leche was born".

"Gral Rosas", "Gral Lavalle" & "The maid cooling "La Lechada". "This was my dear grandma. She used to make the most amazing dulce de leche".

Dulce de Leche Recipe

Recipe:
2 lts of whole milk
3 tea cups of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

Place the milk in a large, heavy saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the sugar and stir with a wooden spoon until the sugar has melted.
When it starts boiling add some marbles to prevent sticking, and add the Baking soda. Reduce heat to minimum, stir from time to time.

The mixture will brown as it cooks. (the quantity of baking soda makes the color difference)
Around 1 hour later it will start boiling again. Stir and remove from fire. When a wooden spoon drawn through the mixture leaves the bottom of the pan visible, and the mixture is light brown in color, remove the pan from the heat.
"I love dulce de leche with everything!! It’s a perfect filling for cakes, and the perfect company for croissants, bread, icecream, pies, chocolates, bananas!!, etc, etc, etc. "

Here are the layouts and projects I created with Shabby Princess new kits and Fontologie's new fonts!!! ;)
Frog & Ladybug in the Shower

"Who says we can’t wear our raincoats when there’s no rain?" When I saw "Bounce" and "Twirl" I culdn't believe it!!! they have the cutest frog and ladybug ever and they match with my kids new raincoats!!! but of course it's not raining these days so I had to create some sort of rain for them to wear them LOL. And it was so much fun!!!

Journalings read:
"April 17th, 2008""Julieta & Maximito had so much fun playing in the shower with theircute raincoats...but I have to confess that it was my idea and I had a blast taking photos and filming them...2 cute kids pleasing their mom LOL"

Julieta's Day Care Box

I finished this box for my daughter Julieta. She needed it for her day care little projects and works. It had to be blue and have the name and last name on top of the box. I used a shoebox and printed the layout and background papers and lace several times, then cut and pasted each piece to cover the box. Then I protected it with transparent contact paper.I had so much fun playing with the kits!! In this case, I used "Whisper" by Shabby Princess and "Bounce" by Shabby Princess , new kits by Shabby Princess!!I know Julieta is a girl, LOL, but she is sort of a tomboy LOL, and she loves the "Sapo Pepe" (Pepe the frog, one of the toys they have there at day care).

Baby Boy and Baby Girl Books

I bought transparent folder plastic binders and covered them with "Bounce" and "twirl" papers (recolored). I had the big sheets printed with a plotter at a Graphic Design lab. They are very relaxed baby books, especially prepared for mothers who don't like or have the time to fill a baby book. The pages are calendars to be filled with stickers or just a pen with a quick note to remember a special event or babys' milestone.

Also the idea is to have in one place the shots certificates, the ultrasounds and Doctor's appts, etc. I used half the book with pages I created and the rest can be filled in any way the mommies want (I like how they turned out so now I don't know if I'll give them as presents to my friend who's having a baby in May and my Goddaughter who was born in February as I was supposed to LOL).

I was inspired by "The Baby Chronicles" (a baby book), and Mambi Minis ("Me & My Big Ideas) stickers and papers (the only paper scrapbook supplies I'll ever have LOL, I bought them 3 years ago and I scanne them and translated the baby's sayings and milestones into Spanish).

I used "Bounce", "Twirl"and "Whisper" (I recolored some of the backgrounds a little), the new kits by Shabby Princess, but I also used several of her other kits!!!!.

I also used Fontologie's fonts: Textura (all versions), Giggles (all versions), and Dippity dots and trippity. For the covers I used "Twilr", "Bounce" (papers and journaling box) & "Whisper" (Lace) and Soft Spoken stickers by "Me & My Big Ideas".Stickers sheet 1:Fonts used:"Textura" & Dippity dots & Giggles" by Fontologie @ the Shabby Shoppe", "Smiley Font", Alpha"LD Potpourri","Witchcraft", "Amelie" by Ronna Penner"Baby's First Sayings" & Christmas stickers by Me & My Big Ideas. "Rough Road","Bath Time" & "5th Grade LD" alphas by Lettering Delights. Stickers Sheet 2:Fonts used: "Textura" by Fontologie @ the Shabby Shoppe, CK Handprint, "Amelie" by Ronna Penner.Kits: "Bounce" & "Twirl" by Shabby princess.Cliparts from stickers from the book "The Baby Chronicles" a baby book I bought 3 years ago (I modified some of the stickers and translated them into spanish)."My pregnancy","Our Family" & "Birthday Die Cuts" stickers by Me & My Big Idea, (stickers I bought and scanned).

Calendar Pages details ;)

As I wrote before, this is a very relaxed baby book. The pages and calendar pages can be re-arranged as many times as I wish, and there are also lots of them to choose from (boy, girl, misc). I printed the stickers on transparent sticker paper and the month dates on regular sticker paper (white). Here are the Calendar pages credits :

My kids are having a lot of birthday parties, so I decided to create personalized birthday labels with a blank space for the birthday girl/boy names.I love how they tuned out and I used the first one yesterday . Maximito loves them and he says: "that's my name in there!!!!" Paternal Grandparents

Journalings read:
"These were my paternal grandparents. They met in 1924, when my grandmother was 20 years old and and my grandfather was 16 years old. They went steady for eleven years and they got married in 1934. My father was the third of their six wild boys ...Poor grandparents!! This photo was taken in 1935, walking down Mendoza Street in Tucumán".

Momento Musical

Journalings read:

"When I asked my dad if my grandma was an actress or if this was a School play, he laughed and then explained to me that these plays where very common during traditional social events. Considering the date, it was probably the celebration of Independence day in 1919".

Bandoneón

Journaling reads:
"I’ve always loved this fun photo of my grandparents. It looked like a great party with a Band and all...But there are no dates or names written on the back of the photo. They looked so young that they were probably dating back then (early 1930’s maybe?) My grandmother is the beautiful brunette pretending to play the Bandoneón, and my grandfather is the handsome man next to the Harp". "Early 1930's?"

My Super little man's forehead curl

Journaling reads:
"My Super little Man's forehead curl"
"Maximito had a custom birthday party and he wanted to look like a real superman, with forehead curl and all...but his hair is so straight that I tried with hair gel and he wasn’t happy with it: “mommy, superman’s forehead curl doesn’t look like that” I kept trying...untill he started rolling his eyes impatiently and said: “mom, I’ll do it myself”"He hummed the Superman soundtrack during the whole session. Then he didn't want to move. "I don't want to break my curl"
"He checked his forehead curl in the mirror 100 times before he finally went to the party, LOL"

Hybrid Project "My First Scrapbook" kit

For this Project I used "Favorite Things" Badge album & "Carousel" kit by Shabby Princess

I wanted to create scrapbook kit (album with stickers) to show my nieces and friends what Scrapbook is (I'd have loved to have a scrapbook album when I was a teenager LOL). So I printed the 22 pages of the mini album and created the "book". Then I chose a few elements and put them together in a sticker sheet. I printed them using vellum sticker paper by Lettering Delights. Finally, I used vellum paper to create an envelope to put everything together. Font I used:Papyrus

Hybrid Project Stationery

For this Project I used "Favorite Things" Badge album & "Carousel" kit by Shabby Princess

I created a notepad and envelopes with the Badge album "Favorite Things". (it has 22 pages, 11 with photo spaces and 11 for the journaling part).I used the 11 journaling sheets and made two copies of each, then I glued them together, and created a notepad. Then I made an envelope using the kit, and I used the paper heart vellum sticker from my previous project to seal the envelope.

Hybrid Project "My Xmas Brag Book"

For this Project I used "Twas the night" brag book, "Twas the night kit" by Shabby Princess & "I LOVE YOU" by Stephanie Victoria Designs at Fontologie

I looooooved using this Brag Book!!!! and the "I love you" Font is amazing . Thank you very much!!!!I created this Brag Book using the "Twas the Night" brag book and "Twas the night" kit by Shabby Princess. I printed the pages using my HP Photosmart and Kodak photo paper and then pasted them to recycled papers. I used a Ribbon from a Xmas embellishment LOL.

Fonts: "I LOVE YOU" by Stephanie Victoria Designs at Fontologie and at www.theshabbyshoppe.com, and Papyrus

End of School Trip - 1990

It doesn't snow where I live, and now we are having very pre-summer hot days LOL. I used these old photos from my end of school trip, in 1990.
Journaling reads:
"We went to Mendoza and Córdoba (2 provinces of Argentina, my country) for our End of School trip. We spent 1 day enjoying the snow in “Las Leñas”, an exclusive ski center. That was the first time I saw “real” snow".

"A drawing I made 17 years ago for the cover of my official, 1st ever Scrapbook, Very primitive but fun, LOL. I copied the sketch from a restaurant’s placemat".

A White Lie

Journaling reads:
"I was at work when Máximo called.: "It's snowing in Raco!! Get ready,I'll pick you up in 10 minutes". I was tempted but I said "I can't, I'm working!!"."Make something up!!, quickly!!"
"My boss wasn't there, but I called him and told him that there was a big lunch party for my grandma's 85th birthday, and that I was going to be back in 2 hours. And I run away with Máximo, (we were dating back then)".
"It was so romantic!!!! I remember being nervous and excited during all the "adventure". It was the beginning of our relationship, and we had to take advantage of every chance we had to see each other and those first kisses were priceless...that was a memorable day for us...:)"
"I was freezing, and I didn't care LOL. I wasn't wearing the appropriate clothes LOL. When I got back to work, my hair and clothes were wet, but I had a big smile all over my face LOL. My workmates covered for me and everything was perfect. I felt a little guilty, though, so I confessed to my Boss a week later and he just laughed LOL. (he was such a cool boss!!)"

My Xmas Project - Layout and Gift set

Here's my Xmas Project ;). "Twas the night" is a stunning kit, full of fun and delicate elements and papers. I started with a layout and then I thought that maybe I could prepare my presents with it. So I made a box for presents for my parents and my MIL, then a DVD cover and DVD tatoo (I edited the Molina's videos (my hubby's family), I'm always filming everybody, and now I have tapes for the last 2 years. (I do that with my own family, too), and that will be the Xmas present for my 11 brother and sisters in law and their families) phew!!. Then I finished my production with Xmas cards. Of course nobody will receive the three items, they could get easily tired of seeing the same layout everywhere LOL.
The photos are not very good (I used a friend's camera, my husband has mine). And I'm sorry for the table with the crayon drawings, My kids decided that the desk (which is getting painted next week) was better than paper as a canvas!!! LOL.

The dear old house

Journalings read:
"This beautiful house was the place where my mom and her 8 brothers and sisters grew up. Now a shopping mall with cinemas is being built there. As the old house is considered an architectonical and historical Provincial Patrimony, the owners of the mall can’t demolish it, so now it’s surrounded by walls and modern constructions. Sadly, the several neighbourhood manifestations against the mall project were unsusccessful..."."My mom with older sibblings and a neighbour, late 1940’s"."my mom is the youngtest short-haired girl with a bang and cute knock knees in both photos"

New Heritage Pages: Grandparents and Card Games

Journalings read:
"Card games have always been the Frias Silva's entertainment tradition. My dear grandparents loved them and they passed that passion on to their children, and shared it with them & their closest friends.
My grandpa used to play poker with his friends at the Jockey Club or at each other's houses. He would never go without his Poker Chip Box, and my mom told me that his friends used to tease him because they said that he looked like a Doctor with it. She inherited the old Box and she takes good care of it and its contents: a real treasure, full of loving memories".
"My grandpa playing Truco with two of his brothers, friends, and the owner of the legendary "Don Goyo" Bar".
"But Poker was not the only card game he played...he had other group of friends and relatives in Tafi del Valle, where they would spend their vacation afternoons playing “Truco”, an argentinian game, where beans are used as chips".
"My grandfather is the handsome man in the middle of the photo".

"Curled Journal Spots number 3" by Katie Pertiet
The box with the Poker chips are the real ones. I borrowed them from my mom. The cards are scanned cards (I burnt the borders for an aged look)The book is the Story of the "Jockey Club de Tucumán", and I extracted the logo for a closer look. The photo frame is a frame I created with the border of one of my granpa's real photos.I used the photo bend action by Terry Maruca.

Journalings read:
"This is my grandma playing “Loba” with her friends in Tafí del Valle. (“Loba” is a Latin American version of “Rummy”). Just like my grandfather, she would spend hours playing with her best friends, having tea and chatting. My grandma had this priceless collection of playing cards, all of them with golden borders and cute and rare shapes. I didn’t know they existed untill now...they are such a treasure!!!".
"My grandmother is the beautiful brunette smiling at the photographer".

The boxes with french cards (blue and red - Jeu Louis XV) are the original ones. I scanned and took photos of them. I scanned some of the cards (beautiful, princeless cards). The box which looks like a Misal, also belonged to my grandma, and contained antique cards (with the Joker in front). The round cards were also part of her collection. The box reads: CIR-Q-LAR, "Waddington's". The KEM plastic playing cards belong to my mom.

I'm so happy and proud to be a Shabby Princess Guest!!! ;). I'm printing every single newsletter and the layouts with the comments!!! ;).

Here's my layout for the freebie:

Maximito's Sayings - 2007

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Argentina, but I think this kit is amazing for any type of layouts ;).
When I saw the stripes and the letter background, I immediately thought: I need to scrap some of Maximito's sayings!!!. I know the words in the background are related to Thanksgiving, so I changed the opacity to put more emphasis in the colored capital letters ;).
The words and expressions are in spanish, and in his middle tongue, and his own way to see the world, so it's impossible to make a logical translation LOL, but I'll try...

Juego zizifizialez: Fuegos artificiales : Fireworks
Ninúndibuz: ómnibus: Bus
Chiquito Amente: Amen kid????: he thinks that "Amen" in prayers is a kid LOL
Nonolipótamo: Hipopótamo: Hypopotamus
Matimonio Dojo: matrimonio rojo????: a red wedded couple???? that apparently scares him in his nightmares LOL, we can't figure out what it is LOL

My Newest Pages

These are my last Heritage Layouts and one about my visit to The Cristo Redentor in Rio.

My First Book

Journaling reads:

"This is the only photo I have of my Grandparents with my mom and me, and the last I have with my grandfather. We used to go to Tafí del Valle for our summer vacations, and I used to sleep with my grandparents. They had an extra bed for me in their room. It was the best room ever and being with them was a blast. They'd always read in bed and eat cookies...a real pleasure for them...;). The cookies they loved the most were the "Vocaciones" (my mom also needs something sweet while she reads).

As I grew up, I tried to imitate them but with my "Esther" comics, but I couldn't concentrate enough to eat and read LOL. I even wanted to wear glasses like my grandfather LOL. One day grandma saw my comics and said: "mmm..I don't think this is the type of things you should be reading at your age (I was 8 or 9 and that comic was more for teenagers). My mom gave me my first book ever: “Mujercitas” (”Little Women”) by Louise M. Alcott, which had illustrations and everything...but I have to confess that after reading so many small letters I'd get tired sometimes LOL.

Anyway, that book started my love for literature, and I joined the family fun: my grandparents library!!! they had all sorts of books and we exchanged them with the rest of the family...After my granfather died, the only thing that my grandmother seemed to enjoy was reading. Sometimes she would read one book a day, so books were the only things I'd give her as presents. She passed away at the age of 91 and she never needed glasses".
"I wish I had more photos of us together...The samll photos on the right are my grandparents in Tafí del Valle"
"My grandpa at Tati's house and my grandma ready to go out..."

I scanned by old Esther Comics covers and "Mujercitas" (my real first book)

First Holy Communion

Journaling reads:
This was my grandfather on his First Holy Communion day. He was 8 years old. The date in the
souvenir reads: June 7th, 1918 (on the Sacred Heart of Jesus day celebrations).I loved my grandfather very much, and one of the last memories I have of him is a day when he was sick in bed , and I went to visit him. He was reading his Missal, and I started asking questions about it, and he taught me a lot of things that day...he told me: “I want you to have it when I die...I’ll tell your grandma”...of course I never imagined that he was going to die one day,..and that the day was a week later...one of the worst days of my life...My grandma gave me the Missal just like my grandfather wanted... 24 years later (last year),my Grandma died and I inherited another Missal, with a Blessed Cross from Tierra Santa that reads “Terra Catacumba.” at the back. It’s beautiful and I’m so proud and happy to have it!!

I've been meaning to scrap these honeymoon photos and "French Countryside" was the perfect kit for this!!

Journaling reads:
"2002 March. These are some of the photos we took during our excursion to the amazing "Cristo Redentor", one of the new seven wonders of the world!! It's really stunning, not only the statue, but also the place and the view from there!!We spent part of our honeymoon in Rio...we looked so happy!! I was very sick, though...the driver was an animal and I have motion sickness...I guess he learnt th elessocn after cleaning the van when the tour was over...LOL"

Credits:
"Autumn Chic" by Shabby Princess (notebook background paper, I created a clipping mask and used the notebook paper from "French Countryside" as a template).

I scanned the negatives and fixed them digitally, and decided to use them just the way they looked (and kept the negatives size). The filmstrip border is part of the "French Countryside" kit.

Dedicated to my DSP Heritage Friends

Clickable Image

This is a layout dedicated to my dear Heritage Friends...a group of ladies that scrap and share their heritage photos and memories. I've been absent lately due to my two toddlers driving me crazy LOL and the time difference that makes it almost impossible for me to join them for the chats...but heritage layouts are my favorite type of pages and these girls are so sweet and fun, that I love telling them my stories and reading theirs, even when I'm not participating or following the chosen subject for the week . I love their comments and I really appreciate their CC and help.

Here's the link to the Forum of Meryl's Heritage Chat at DSP

Every Wednesday we get together and vote for the best page and we drum roll and everything LOL, Meryl gives the winner a kit coupon!!! Two of my pages won and I can't explain to you how happy and thankful I was .

I visited their galleries and chose my favorite page from each one of them...and I put one of my winning pages .
Choosing wasn't easy...these ladies are so talented and the stories they tell are so interesting that it took me forever to decide which ones to use...
I put the pages of the girls that posted at least 2 times this year (I don't know some of them but I love their pages!!), and there may be others I missed, but this is dedicated with love to you all, my heritage friends, the memory keepers.

Like mother...like daughter...

Like mother...like daughter...

I still don't know which one I like better...because here it looks better without any borders, but
in the galleries the black outline border shows so I tried with a background...I don't know...;)

As soon as I saw this kit I fell in love with it ;). The first idea that came to my mind was to scrap
the way I feel about dishes LOL. I hate doing dishes!!! My mom says that doing dishes is not as
terrible as other housewife's chores...she names herself "Odia de casa", which would be the
opposite to "ama de casa": the spanish expression for housewife). This is also a play on words,
because ama means LOVES and/or MASTER (of the house in this case), and odia is the spanish
word for hates. LOL as you can see, my mom is quite a character!!! LOL

And don't worry, my wedding was great and I was happy LOL, it's just that my brand new hubby
(in 2002), and his friends, were making me dance in a very frenetic way LOL.
Journalings read:
"Like mother...like daughter""Do you take this man to be yoru lawfully wedded bla bla bla..."
"I do...but I dont' do dishes!! heeeelp!!"
"I do...but I'm an "odia de casa"
My wedding: March 2nd, 2002 / My parents wedding: April 15th, 1972

The old ads read, From left to right:
"Girls! say goodbye to tiresome dirty dishes with this handy little gadget!!"
"Sing while you clean"
"You have 340 tons of diry dishes waiting for you!!"

Dedicated to my "Feed the Hungry" Friends

This is a layout dedicated to my "Feed the Hungry Layouts" friends at www.digitalscrapbookplace.com, I joined them last year and I think they are wonderful ladies. Feed means comment, of course, and that's what they do. I'm so proud to be part of this, even though I've been MIA lately. This is a daily thread, so we don't only comment and post our pages for comments, but also keep track of each other. I miss you girls, I hope you like my page!!!

Journaling reads:
"This page is dedicated to you, my “Feed the Hubgry Layouts” friends. You are amazing!!, I love commenting on your pages and reading your comments on mine. You’ve encouraged me, “hugged” me when I needed it, taught me things, and given me advice. Thank you for being there, and receiving me back every time I’ve been absent for any reason. I didn’t get photos from all of you,(and from the ones who are no longer part of the thread), but this is also dedicated to you...You all rock!!!Hugs & kisses, Mariquita (the second from the top left LOL)"

A Heritage freebie

Blushy 2 I wanted to share this freebie with you, I hope you like it!!
I scanned the spiderweb cover of my MIL's old album, and I used it for one of my layouts

"Abanicos & Peinetas". You can change the opacity for a more transparent paper. My folded
corner is not very good but that was my first time!! LOL (after struggling with it I decided to
buy the folding action by Terry Maruca LOL,LOL but at least I had one done with my
own hands).

I inherited more than 100 antique postcards when my grandma passed away last year, and I'm

slowly scanning them:

- The main street (25 de Mayo) of Tucumán, Argentina, the place where I live, in 1914.
- The White House, Washington DC
- General Hospital, Winnipeg

And I also scanned the Photo Studio old ad (Buenos Aires & Uruguay).
I love creating heritage layouts ;). Visit my galleries and have a look!!! Thanks for looking!!!
Hugs And Kisses

My new layout: "Too old to use a pacifier"

I finished this page today after a week with a serious case of scrapper's block LOL.

"Too old to use a pacifier"

I am the little girl with the big pacifier, and that is one of my brothers (I have two).

Journaling reads:
"My mom always tells the story of the night when she made the executive decision that we had to stop using pacifiers...A pretty cruel thing for my brothers if we consider that the youngest was 6 months old,and the other was 1 year and a half. It seems that I was the problem...too old, 3 years old!! One tragic night and it
was over...we were all pacifier-less LOL"

Another Heritage Layout

Here's a layout I created for the DSP weekly Heritage challenge a few weeks ago. The theme was "Fashion".

"Abanicos & Peinetas"

"This is a photo of my very handsome grandfather during a party. The girls were wearing peinetones and abanicos. The boys look very formal with their suits. I really don’t know how old my grandfather was in this photo, but He was born in 1910, so I guess this party took place sometime around 1920’s".

"Album Memories 2" by Meryl Bartho
Font: CluffHmk
The transparent spider paper is the real paper cover from an antique photo album. I scanned The abanico (fan) and the stamp from an old postcard from my grandma's collection (I inherited it). The photo border is the actual cardboard border, and the written names at the top of the photo (in the journal)are the actual names written by my great grandmother (I guess).

QOTC Contest, Scrapbookgraphics blog!!

Well, my last entry about the QOTC contest, was about the results. But I forgot to show you my "thanks for being a Pixel Princess" Blinkie LOL, so here it is:

And I told you that I played along with the finalists, but for the QOTC Home Version... and I won that week!!! The theme was "How are you queen in your own life?" and I started thinking and struggling (as I always do with my layouts LOL), and my page was the one I showed you before..."The Queen of...Trash?".

But the best part of all, (for me) was reading the Scrapbookgraphics blog!!! I just copied it (I resized the photos of my layouts, as I posted it before, but in the blog they have a normal size).
Playing Around with Stamp Sheets
Tuesday June 19th 2007, 10:41 am

Article by Karen Maggie

By now, I’m sure most everyone has seen layouts with Studio Meredith’s Stamp Sheet Sets. They are popping up everywhere these days. They’ve become such a trend, that they’re hard to miss! But, have YOU tried them yet? If not, we hope you will join the Studio Crew and create a layout with the stamp sheets. We challenge you to try to come up with a unique way to use the stamp sheets
Meredith offers two types of stamps: Naked and Covered (The Naked stamps can be used as templates to create custom stamps using any paper):
Covered Stamp Sheets Naked Stamp Sheets

Karen showed different amazing layouts using the stampsheets (she started with LauraKaye's layout, which was amazing and draw everybody's attention, and as Karen says, it started it all, the stamp sheets fever LOL).
And the last layout she showed was mine ;) !!!!!!!!! ;)

"...And finally, I ran across this spectacular layout in the gallery so I asked Mariquita about the stamp sheets. Here is what she had to say:

“Meredith’s stamp sheets are awesome!!! I saw them for the first time on one of the girl’s QOTC layouts, and I then I started seeing amazing layouts using the stamps and I fell in love with them. I decided to use the stamps for my QOTC home version, because I wanted to do something different using multiple photos. I knew from the very beginning that the stamps were exactly what I needed to give my page an interesting, worn look (because all my "trash/treasures" are old things) and using a different element or just the photos wasn’t going to work. I needed something to represent my love for what those things mean to me: memories, feelings, souvenirs and the essence of me (a memory keeper but also a nostalgic, dreamy and loving person). Oh!! And I forgot to add that one of the main reasons I love the stamp sheets is that I’m planning to use them for many of my heritage layouts (I’m planning to finish an album for my mom’s 60th birthday).”
Credits: "Covered Stamp Sheets" by Meredith Fenwick, QOTC crown by Maya (I altered the color), "Alter it! Chapter 1" inked edge overlay MBoss Action by Terry Maruca
So, there you have it! It really does pay to play around and try different things. And you never know…you just might come up with an idea that triggers a new trend!"
Thank you very much Karen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, you totally made my day when you sent me that PM asking about my layout!!!!!!!

And part of the next entry was also about my page!!! I couldn't believe it!!! I was jumping, and laughing!!! LOL
